Artist's Biography
Jill Edwards Leite (pronounced: "leet") has long been captivated by the beauty and history of the University of Georgia's campus. Having received formal training at UGA while earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting, Jill often used the campus as her inspiration. Sitting under a tree with her drawing board, Jill carefully studied the details of many of the university's historic buildings. The architecture of her alma mater continues to interest her as a professional artist today. In capturing the elegance and charm of the University's landmark buildings in her artwork, Jill aims to evoke the treasured memories held by UGA alumni. Her work embodies the heritage of one of the nation's oldest campuses and calls to mind the accomplishments of its graduates.
Artist's Statement
From childhood on, I have always felt that working with art put me in my element. In my career as an artist, I have used mediums in many different ways, some for commercial use and some for the pure joy of drawing and painting. When commissioned for a project, I strive to work to the very best of my ability. While I enjoy the creative process and the challenge of integrating my own vision with that of my customers, my greatest excitement comes just before I finish the project, when everything comes together. Once this is accomplished, I reflect on my work and the worthwhile effort it required. In these moments, I am fully aware of how much I enjoy my profession. It is with this sense of satisfaction that I send each piece to its new owner.
